This jewel which is on the Florida Birding Trail has 12 miles of trails. Don’t worry, we won’t walk all of them! The area encompasses a variety of habitats including freshwater swamp, dry prairie/grassland, field/pasture, pines, river/stream, lake, hardwoods/mixed forest and mudflats. We will spend some time walking the perimeter of the lake looking for wintering waterfowl, herons, egrets, bittern and wintering sparrows. With such a variety of habitats, we should end the outing with a respectable trip list.
Bring a picnic lunch, water and bug spray. We might eat lunch and explore more there or move on to other locations. One never knows! Of course, you are free to leave whenever you need to go.
We'll probably even see one of these!
Meet in the parking lot by the restrooms.
