Bird Walk for Beginners: Fort Caroline National Memorial

October 17 @ 9:15 am - 11:15 am
Free

Join us this Saturday, October 17th at 9:15 am at Fort Caroline National Memorial. This is a beginner-friendly outing – from the bird curious to seasoned birders, all are welcome! Fall migration is still happening, so we’ll be looking out for migratory birds like warblers and raptors!

We will start the 1.5 mile Hammock Trail along the St Johns River, and look for herons, egrets, Bald Eagles, and other species. We’ll continue into the maritime forest to look for resident species and migratory species. Birders have reported 165 species at this eBird hotspot!

Meet leader Kate Zeray in front of the Visitor Center to get signed in. Binoculars will be available to borrow for the outing. This trail is mostly flat with tree roots and some areas of moderate incline. There are a few benches along the trail. Restrooms are available at the visitor center.
