Harris Neck NWR provides premier nesting, foraging, and wintering habitat for a diversity of wildlife, including nearly 350 species of birds. Signature species include threatened wood storks, which nest in a large colony on Woody Pond, and the colorful and uncommon painted bunting.

Bring your binoculars, insect repellent, sunscreen, snacks and plenty of water.

Location Harris Neck National Wildlife Refuge
Directions: Take I-95 north to exit #67 in Georgia (US-17). It is approximately a 1.5 hr drive from Jacksonville, depending on where you live. Turn right (east) at the exit. In less than a mile, look for signs for the refuge and turn left onto Harris Neck Road (just past the Smallest Church in America). Continue on Harris Neck Road for approximately 7 miles to the refuge entrance on your left.
