Presenter: Husein Cumber, Chief Strategy Officer for Florida East Coast Industries
Location: Southeast Regional Library, Room B, 10599 Deerwood Park Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32256
All Aboard! This month's program will feature Husein Cumber from Florida East Coast Industries (FECI). Cumber is a member of Audubon Florida’s First Class of Climate Entrepreneurs. These important climate entrepreneurs are helping Audubon meet the challenges of climate change, and in the process creating economic opportunity. Cumber and FECI are making a new, greener chapter in Florida’s transportation patterns through Brightline, the privately owned high-speed rail connecting Florida cities. Through emissions savings, and getting millions off the roads, Brightline fulfills an important mitigation strategy.
FECI and Cumber worked extensively with Audubon Florida throughout the development of Brightline, which required a 5+year federal environmental process. Plus, FECI was part of the environmental coalition that helped get additional state funding for environmental projects. As FECI’s Chief Strategy Officer, Cumber recognizes that while mass transit has always been desirable for its convenience, now, there is also increased demand from Floridians because of transit’s role in addressing climate change.
Meetings start with refreshments and networking at 6:30 pm and programs at 7:00 pm (unless otherwise noted). We will provide snacks and drinks; please feel free to BYOD (Bring Your Own Dinner) and enjoy it during the program. Please also bring your own cup to help cut down on plastic trash at this event. Thank you!
