DESCRIPTION:Concerts for Conservation is a donations-based fundraiser hosted by Keep Nassau Beautiful to support projects that raise awareness for the importance of conservation to our community’s well-being. \nFrom 2 to 4 pm\, an open mic format\, musicians and vocalists will play music\, sing\, and we will sprinkle in short talks focused on an important conservation topic – Birds of Amelia Island. \nTables will be set up for the event partners including Wild Birds Unlimited\, Duval Audubon Society\, Keep Nassau Beautiful\, and the City of Fernandina Beach to increase dialogue with the attendees and provide further education opportunities. \nJoin us for this family-friendly event in one of our beautiful natural spaces as we raise awareness for the importance of conservation.  Bring your refillable water bottle and enjoy the free water refill station.

DESCRIPTION:The 7 Creeks Fest\, hosted by the Timucuan Parks Foundation\, invites you to celebrate and explore the scenic waterways\, diverse ecosystems\, and winding trails of the 7 Creeks Recreation Area. Spread throughout the connected wilderness parks and preserves surrounded by seven creeks\, this family-friendly\, fun event raises awareness of these preserved public lands and how we can help protect them. \nThe fest highlights the area’s recreational opportunities\, local efforts to enhance and protect these green spaces\, and offers nature-themed activities and exhibits that emphasize education and environmentally responsible adventures. \nWe’ll be there with our outreach table\, sharing our love of birds and nature with festival goers\, and we’re also leading bird walks at 11:30 am and 1:30 pm. \nThe festival is free\, and other activities include an archaeology hike\, food trucks\, a photography hike\, a wildflower hike\, and much more! Easy\, welcoming\, and perfect for all experience levels. \nPart Two (9:45-11:00 AM: Shorebird Walk\nThen we’ll head out on a guided Bird Walk with Patricia Haas\, Parks Naturalist\, to observe the incredible birds of Huguenot Memorial Park. SUMMARY:Open House and Volunteer Work Day at Crosby Sanctuary
DESCRIPTION:The gates to Crosby Sanctuary will be open from 8-12 for visitors to enjoy the bird garden and walk the trails\, as well as for volunteers to conduct projects and maintenance. Please parallel park on Aquarius Concourse on the same side of the road as the Sanctuary. \nCrosby Sanctuary (limited access/no fee) is a “hotspot” on eBird and a “project” on iNaturalist. We have documented over 150 bird species on eBird and 300 plant species on iNaturalist. We also have active North American beavers on the property. \nIMPORTANT: Please wear close-toed shoes or boots (for your safety\, no sandals or flip-flops\, please)\, and bring your own water\, sunscreen\, bug spray\, and a hat if desired. \nYou can access a printable map of the preserve here. \nNOTE: The entrance is in the middle of the neighborhood – please park inside the gate (limit six vehicles) or on the NW side of the street (same side as the sanctuary).
