DESCRIPTION:Get outside and celebrate National Public Lands Day with Duval Audubon\, St. Johns Riverkeeper\, Ixia Native Plant Society\, Sierra Club\, and other community organizations! \nDuval Audubon and the Ixia Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society invite you to join us for a guided Bird & Plant Walk at 8 am\, but there are other National Public Lands Day events at Julington-Durbin Creek Preserve on the agenda for the day as well! \nHere is the complete (tentative) schedule: \n\n8AM – 10AM: Julington Creek Stand-Up Paddle Board Trip w/ Latitude 29 (requires pre-registration & a fee to participate)\n8AM – 9:30AM: Bird & Plant Walk with Duval Audubon and Ixia Native Plant Society (Learn more about Ixia: https://ixia.fnpschapters.org/)\n9:30AM – 10/10:30AM: Morning Meditation with The Naham Experience\n10:30AM – 12:30PM: Hike with Sierra Club (White Loop with shortcut and down to the creek)\n12:30PM – 1:00PM: Bring your own bag lunch picnic and Public Lands Discussion/Call to Action

SUMMARY:Open House and Volunteer Work Day at Crosby Sanctuary
DESCRIPTION:The gates to Crosby Sanctuary will be open from 8-12 for visitors to enjoy the bird garden and walk the trails\, as well as for volunteers to conduct projects and maintenance. Please parallel park on Aquarius Concourse on the same side of the road as the Sanctuary. \nCrosby Sanctuary (limited access/no fee) is a “hotspot” on eBird and a “project” on iNaturalist. We have documented over 150 bird species on eBird and 300 plant species on iNaturalist. We also have active North American beavers on the property. \nIMPORTANT: Please wear close-toed shoes or boots (for your safety\, no sandals or flip-flops\, please)\, and bring your own water\, sunscreen\, bug spray\, and a hat if desired. \nYou can access a printable map of the preserve here. \nNOTE: The entrance is in the middle of the neighborhood – please park inside the gate (limit six vehicles) or on the NW side of the street (same side as the sanctuary).
