DESCRIPTION:Calling all young birders! Join us for an exciting outing at Crosby Sanctuary! \nJoin us for an outing at Crosby Sanctuary on Sunday\, March 22nd from 8-10am\, where we’ll have special access for our group! Owned by Duval Audubon Society\, Crosby Sanctuary is a limited-access nature preserve that is home to a full biodiversity of native plants\, mammals\, birds\, reptiles\, amphibians and invertebrates. FYBC is a membership organization geared towards young birders ages 9-17\, but you do not need to be a member to go birding with us for this outing. This walk will be led by Will Misner\, youth representative of the FYBC-Northeast Florida Chapter\, and David Doran\, Duval Audubon Society’s Director of Education and Youth Outreach. \nBirds abound! Crosby Sanctuary is an important breeding site for the Prothonotary Warbler\, which returns from Central America each year. Rusty Blackbirds have also been seen there occasionally during wintering and migration periods. There are always great birds to see and signs of wildlife activity to enjoy when visiting Crosby Sanctuary! DESCRIPTION:Leader: Andrew Schumann\, Duval Audubon Conservation Director for Nassau County \nKingsley Plantation is the site of a former estate owned by Zephaniah Kingsley\, who spent 25 years there. It is now part of the Timucuan Ecological and Historic Preserve managed by the U.S. National Park Service. \nResident birds include Pileated Woodpecker\, Brown Pelican\, Double-crested Cormorant\, Great Blue Heron\, Great Egret\, Snowy Egret\, Little Blue Heron\, Tricolored Heron\, Clapper Rail\, Yellow-throated Warbler\, Black-crowned Night Heron\, vultures\, Osprey\, Eastern Screech Owl\, Great Horned Owl\, Barred Owl\, and many more. \nLocation: 11676 Palmetto Ave\, Jacksonville\, FL 32226. No fee. \nDirections: From I-95 or I-295 East Beltway\, exit at Heckscher Drive and go east. After passing the St. Johns River Ferry landing on your right\, turn left 1/2 mile later at the brown National Park Service sign onto Fort George Island. Follow the signs on the road leading to the Kingsley Plantation parking lot. You will travel down a 2-mile dirt road. Restrooms are available at this site.

Join us on Global Big Day as we explore Guana Reserve with the Florida Young Birders Club – NE Florida Chapter! \nJoin us for a birding outing at Guana Reserve on Saturday\, May 9th from 8-10am! We will be celebrating Global Big Day by finding a variety of bird species as we bird our way through Guana’s diverse landscape. FYBC is a membership organization geared towards young birders ages 9-17\, but you do not need to be a member to go birding with us for this outing. This walk will be led by Will Misner\, youth representative of the FYBC-Northeast Florida Chapter\, and David Doran\, Duval Audubon Society’s Director of Education and Youth Outreach. \nGuana Reserve features a variety of habitats including salt marshes\, a large freshwater-to-brackish water lagoon\, open ocean\, and coastal oak hammock forests.
