What educators are saying

I love this resource! It has a great drawing different types of birds section that I have used in several classes now. Great information and great activities.
This had everything I imagined for my classroom! I absolutely love the creativeness! Thank you so much!!

Description

Note: During Distance Learning, my partner and I wanted to give our students an activity that did not involve a worksheet or manipulating pieces on a device. We decided to send parts of this resource to parents and it was a big hit! The teacher read aloud pages and how-to-draw directions can be posted digitally for parents to read with their kids. The black line student pages can be printed OR kids can simply use paper that they already have at home. Students observe birds in their backyard and use the how-to-draw pages to create the birds that they see. They can simply label their birds OR write descriptive sentences about their birds. Students can take a photo of their pages and send back to their teacher through platforms such as Seesaw or Google classroom.

Children will love following the step-by-step diagrams that show how to draw the birds that they can see in their own backyards! Children will learn that the food birds eat is related to their beak shape by participating in a fun science activity using common tools and food items. The step-by-step diagrams are easy to follow and can be used either as an independent activity or as a teacher directed group activity. Pages are copied and stapled together so that each student will have their own bird field guide! A full color teacher read aloud can be used to introduce each bird. Cards for matching pictures of real birds to their names is included as well as 3 styles of lined paper to aid in your differentiated learning. This is a great supplement to a thematic Bird unit! I have also included a Bird report template that can be done at the conclusion of the creation of the field guide.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS RESOURCE IS A HOW TO DRAW RESOURCE.

The birds included are AMERICAN ROBIN, GRACKLE, HOUSE FINCH, AMERICAN GOLDFINCH, MOURNING DOVE, DOWNY WOODPECKER, CARDINAL, BLUE JAY, RUBY THROATED HUMMINGBIRD, RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD, SONG SPARROW, BLACK CAPPED CHICKADEE and BALTIMORE ORIOLE.
