Black Creek Eco Fest

Come celebrate Willliam Bartram’s Birthday by attending the Black Creek ECO-Fest at Camp Chowenwaw in Clay County. The Ixia Chapter with be participating with an outreach table. The family-friendly event will include interactive programs, local vendors, hand on activities, food trucks, guided hikes and more.

City Nature Challenge Kickoff
April 26, 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens, 370 Zoo Parkway, Jax 32218
Join us as we help kick off the 2024 City Nature Challenge with the Jacksonville Zoo & Gardens Education Department, Duval Audubon, Sierra Club and other organizations. Stop by our outreach table and say hi. We’ll be giving demos on how to take great observation photos for iNaturalist.
Meet outside the main entrance for more information and learn how to participate in the event which will run from April 26 through May 5.
The City Nature Challenge is an international effort for people to find and document plants and wildlife in cities across the globe. It’s a bioblitz-style competition where cities are in a friendly contest with each other to see who can make the most observations of nature, who can find the most species, and who can engage the most people.

Tillie K Fowler Regional Park Bioblitz
April 27, 8:00 am to noon, Tillie K Fowler Regional Park, 7000 Roosevelt Boulevard, Jax 32244
Join City of Jacksonville Park Naturalists to try to document as many species as we can at Tillie K Fowler Regional Park off Roosevelt Boulevard.
Observations will be posted on iNaturalist and tallied on the 2024 City Nature Challenge.
A smart phone and an iNaturalist app account will be needed to participate.
Participants should dress for the weather, wear closed toe shoes, use insect repellent, and bring water and snacks.
Meet at the Nature Center at the end of the road into the park.

Floribunda Art Show: Celebrating Florida’s Unique Biodiversity

Floribunda, an art show celebrating Florida’s unique biodiversity, is presented by the Ixia Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society and CoRK Arts District.
Join us for a wonderful evening in celebration of Florida’s native flora and wild places. This curated roster of contemporary artists will feature some aspect of Florida’s natural history, flora, and fauna. A portion of sales will be donated to the Ixia Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society.

Rondette Park Bioblitz
April 28, 9:00 am to noon, Rondette Park, 3500 Rondette Lake Drive, Jax 32277
Join us on a citizen science crusade as we try to document as many species as we can at Rondette Park in east Arlington. All observations will be posted on iNaturalist and tallied on the 2024 City Nature Challenge.
A smart phone and an iNaturalist account will be needed to participate. Please bring water, snacks and bug spray.
Meet at the Lake Loop trailhead just inside the entrance to the park off Fort Caroline Road.
