St. Augustine Road Fish Management Area is a fishing lake operated by the City of Jacksonville that is located in the San Jose area. It is accessed off of Stetson Road, off St. Augustine Road between University Blvd. W. and Emerson St. An underused spot, it is usually empty of everyone except birds. Migratory birds love the lake and surrounding woodlands. It is an eBird Hotspot where 72 species have been noted. Target species include Wood duck, Green Heron, Great Blue Heron, Tricolored Heron, American Coot, Pied-billed Grebe, Ring-necked Duck, Common Gallinule, Anhinga, American Kestrel, White Ibis, Loggerhead Shrike, Ruby-crowned Kinglet, and various Warblers.

Do NOT Google this address.  The directions are wrong and you will not get there.  Stetson Road does not go through from University Blvd. No fee.

From the North:  Take Emerson Road (either from US1 or Hendricks) to St. Augustine Road.  There's a light.  Turn south (away from town). Pass Nickerson Lane on the right then Vinson Lane on the left.  It's the next Right onto Stetson.  If you get to Anything with Plants, you've gone too far. Follow Stetson to the end and the park is through the gates on the left.

From the South:  Get to the light at the corner of University Blvd. West and St. Augustine Road (there's a Walgreens and a BBVA Compass Bank). Turn north (towards town) on St. Augustine Road. Go straight past the light at Powers Avenue.  When you see Anything with Plants on the left, start looking for Stetson Road.  Turn left on Stetson and follow to the end.  The park is through the gate on the left.

As a last resort, call Carolyn Antman 904-477-9807.

Location Turn left on Stetson and follow to the end.  The park is through the gate on the left.
