Dr. Brett Moyer, environmental science teacher on the Bolles Upper School San Jose Campus, has some uplifting news about the Bolles bluebird program on all four campuses.

A recent schoolwide nest check yielded some exciting results. Including the nest boxes the Bolles Environmental Club added in San Jose-area parks a few years ago and one Moyer installed at Palencia Elementary School, there are now 37 bluebird eggs and 10 nestlings in Bolles boxes. Moyer said there are several additional nests “under construction” in other boxes.

“It’s a strong start to the season,” Moyer said. He explained this batch of nestlings are part of the first brood. Many Bolles bluebird boxes will have three broods through the end of bluebird season in late-July.
