Columbia County purchased the Alligator Lake Recreation Area through theFlorida Preservation 2000 grant program in 1997. The park has approximately 1000 acres of green space and wetlands and 12 miles of trails.

This is a joint field trip with Four Rivers Audubon.

If you would like to carpool, meet at 7:00 a.m. at Office Depot, 5914 Ramona Blvd., I-10 & Lane Ave. Otherwise, meet at Alligator Lake at 8:00 am.

Directions: Go west on I-10 and take the US 90 exit (Olustee). Go west on US 90 for approx. 20 miles, as you pass the Lake City airport look for CR 10A (Baya Ave.) bearing off to the left. Once on Baya Ave, look for and turn left onto CR 133 (Country Club Dr.) There is a sign for Alligator Lake on right. Meet at the parking lot next to the pole barn. No fee.
