Vaill Point Park is a beautiful 23-acre recreational park located along Moultrie Creek and the Intracoastal Waterway just south of Saint Augustine. We'll walk the 1.5-mile paved trail through the woods, where we should see the usual woodland birds like Tufted Titmouse, Carolina Wren, Northern Cardinal, Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, and Ruby-Crowned Kinglet, and we'll also look for Northern Parula, Yellow-rumped Warbler, Yellow-throated Warbler, and possibly Blue-headed Vireo. We'll also visit the boardwalk overlooking the salt marsh at the intersection of the Intracoastal Waterway and Moultrie Creek, where we may see nesting Great Blue Herons as well as Belted Kingfisher, Great Egret, Double-crested Cormorant, Wood Stork, and maybe some Hooded Mergansers that haven't left yet for their annual northward migration. Vaill Point is an eBird Hot Spot, so we should see lots of great birds!
